My name is Helena Frade, and I’m based in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Brazil. I’m an artist, illustrator, designer, and researcher—or, as I like to put it, a things-maker.

I’m currently a PhD candidate in Literature, Culture, and Contemporaneity at PUC-Rio, and I hold a Master’s degree in Arts, Culture, and Languages from UFJF, where I also earned my Bachelor’s degrees in Film and Audiovisual Arts, and in Arts and Design.

My work moves across disciplines: I enjoy weaving together art, film, design, education, fashion, and literature. I’m deeply interested in political and social issues, and I see visual and audiovisual narratives as powerful tools to imagine and share transformative ideas.

Over the years, I’ve collaborated on projects for the Brazilian Government and the Ministry of Education (MEC), as well as with international clients from Argentina, Mexico, Cape Verde, among others.
